Paul A. Herman received his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland in 1978 wherein he was a member of the National Journalism Honor Society. He also worked briefly for the New York Times prior to receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1983. He also attended the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and the City College of New York (CCNY) as an undergraduate where he played football and lacrosse. Aside from his legal career Mr. Herman is a certified indoor cycling instructor and currently serves as an assistant coach for the West Boca Raton Community High School Boys Lacrosse Club. He is a resident of South Florida for the past 30 years and is proudly raising 3 wonderful children.
Mr. Herman is a member of The Florida Bar, the United States District Court of Florida (Northern, Middle and Southern Districts), the United States District Court of Florida Trial Bar (Southern District). Additionally, he is admitted to practice in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Further, Mr. Herman is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Association of South Florida Mediators and Arbitrotors. Mr. Herman has been rated AV (the highest rating) by Martindale-Hubbell.
Immediately prior to the start of his present consumer law practice and mediation work, Mr. Herman was an Equity Partner in the insurance defense firm of Miller, Kagan, Rodriguez and Silver, P.A. While there for nearly 20 years, Mr. Herman moved from the firm’s main office in Miami to assist in the daily management of the firm’s West Palm Beach office. Mr. Herman also handled the firm’s LHWCA Division (Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act), Federal Workers’ Compensation claims, as well as actively handling and supervising the State of Florida Worker’s Compensation defense litigation.
Mr. Herman has been a guest lecturer on numerous topics for among others: The Longshore Institute, The Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Section, Annual Claims Manager’s Conference sponsored by WCCP, The Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute’s (FWCI) annual conference, The Florida Bar Association continuing legal education and most recently the Loyola University of New Orleans Annual Longshore Conference.
